AWARD WINNERS!

Taylor Tuxford Associates is proud to announce the success of Rhys Taylor & Michelle Tuxford at the inaugural Built in Quality Awards 2008.

The Built in Quality Awards is organised by the Building Control Departments of the four local authorities that comprise the LABC group for South Yorkshire and the Humber – these being, Sheffield City Council, Barnsley MBC, Doncaster MBC, Rotherham MBC, Hull City Council and North Lincolnshire District Council. www.syhbuiltinquality.co.uk

Their success was in the category for best Domestic Extension project, for which they were nominated in respect of their design for Mr B Bains at his home on Mortain Road, Moorgate, Rotherham.  The project entailed the addition of substantial extensions to the front, side and rear of an existing four bedroom house to give a six-bedroom house, with each bedroom having its own dedicated en-suite bathroom.  The extensions also incorporated enlarged living rooms and a substantial games room.

The Award was announced at a gala dinner held on 6th March 2008 at the Tankersley Manor Hotel, Barnsley that was attended by over 180 guests. The Awards were announced by Mr Paul Everall CBE, chief Executive of the LABC, but the recipients of the Awards were determined by a panel of Building Control personnel from each of the six Local Authorities involved.  The photograph below shows Rhys and Michelle receiving the Award, accompanied by the Client’s representatives.

The following images show the original house and the finished project.  The structural design of the project was complex as there were only a limited number of load-bearing walls at first floor level from which to support the enlarged roof structure.
